Shigenobu Nagamori, Chairman and CEO, established Nippon Densan Corporation (now Nidec Corporation) in Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan in 1973. In the same year, company started production and sales of small precision AC motors. At the year 1976, the company established Nidec America Corp, a locally-incorporated company in USA. Since January 31, 2017, Leroy-Somer has become a part of the Nidec Group.
